The Best Nutritionist for you is YOU
Believe it or not, your body has the intelligence and the wisdom to know what it needs or doesn’t need at every given moment.
“But how can I trust my body when it asks me for chocolate, crisps and cake all the time?”
I hear you. I struggle with this sometimes too. As with creating any new and life changing habits, it takes practice. Get curious and investigate whether it’s really your body asking you for this or whether it’s a part of your mind asking you to numb something out. Maybe you have some intense emotions moving through you right now, maybe you’ve had a really stressful day at work or maybe you really just need a bit of chocolate to get you through the day.
It’s all about taking baby steps, getting curious and discovering who is really craving that chocolate bar, is it empowered and fulfilled you? or is it unhappy/stressed out you?
Is it really the chocolate/cake/crisps that you want?
Or are you yearning for peace, nourishment and comfort? All of which can be accomplished in other shapes and forms.
Either way, it’s ok. Whatever you decide, you’re not a failure.
You’re not a terrible, worthless and powerless person. You’re a human being and you’re doing the best that you can with what you know.
If you decide to eat the cake, then freakin’ enjoy every mouthful of it.
If you decide that actually what you need is a good ol’ chat with your bestie then get on the phone or maybe you just need to get the hell out of work right now.
We’ve been told for so long that we can’t trust ourselves or our bodies and that we must rely solely on external cues and expert help, which don’t get me wrong I’m not saying aren’t helpful, know what they’re doing or have their place in helping us heal.
I’m just saying that the expert of you is YOU.
Your body knows what it needs, and so do you.
It’s time to start trusting yourself.
